Recommendations for anime.

You might call it pointless now but back then it was unbiased by hate and it was a unique perspective of a county at war. I feel like I'm the only one who gets this film, for once its an anime that’s stone cold serious in its subject, it’s not all about the pew pew action, romance or mystery and I guess most just can't put up with it in today’s fast times.

Being nether American or Japanese my opinion of the film is just bound to differ. Make light of the war all you want but I feel bad about war in general. When I watch it, I feel sorry for the little girl, I feel sorry for the boy who just refused to let his situation get him down, I feel sorry for his sad end and for the innocent lives crushed. I've never really been one for empathy so anything that pushes my buttons like this must be something really powerful and I guess... special.

All I've got to say is that just because something is sad, that doesn't make it pointless. History's an important thing. If nothing else you need to remember history's tragedies in order to perhaps prevent them from happening again in the future.

Holocaust movies made tons of people sad, but it's not as if the Jews were complaining. It helped people understand what they went through, and understanding is typically something you want.

Don't mistake me for being against sad movies or calling the war pointless...

I just think it was unnesssary to make an anime about it... I never said history was unimportant but i think Movies are ok but ANIME! come on.. i think thats taking it too far.. i dunno, i'm just no the type to enjoy seeing that kind of thing in an anime... I mean, i think its fine to have serious/moving anime... but something about GOTF that bugged me...

Lets not get into a History Buff war... I'm well aware of world history from my high school days... and i'm just stating my opinion..as you are entitled to yours. =D

on to Zoids.....

Seriously, I'm happy that people agree that Chaotic Century was the only good Zoids... I did hear about the "zoids fuzion" (as i'll call it) show and i had no intention of ruining a good thing. I watched the "Bit cloud" one hoping that it would be at least 50% good... but even when the storyline kicked in i found it seriously lacking... i was really disappointed...

Dai- Guard.... weird show for sure... a diff take on the whole Gundam Idea... but i liked it.. give it a look i'd say.. Definately made me laugh!

Hey all. I was just wondering what people were watching now that's good. I generally like more shoujo stuff (Ouran, Nodame Cantabile, I guess Yakitate too?), but I've made an exception for Gintama because it's funny. I like slapstick comedy a lot.

Also, I'd prefer something that doesn't have episodes that span maybe a total of 5 minutes in anime time. I think Bleach and Naruto are pretty bad culpurits of this, which is why I don't care much for either of them.

So any recommendations?

Find and watch Baccano it is brilliant, but difficult to follow at first because it works backwards.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head, but it was great. Also Hulu has some new version of Full Metal Alchemist that I'm supposed to be watching, but they follow the manga more so its got a lot of weird changes I don't care for.

i dropped 100 on the complete 1st & 2nd season of FullMetal alchemist(because i can't be bothered buying season 1-part, part 2 bullshit)(and in b4 internets downloads, lolz)

I right now i'm awaiting the Samurai champloo box set(the new one that is like $52 @ rightstuf, and not the $100+ BS versions >_>)

I've been getting some animes(some i passed up on) on the cheap via rightstuff

The internet/Beatmyprice/DVDpricesearch are somewhat helpful
