Bitter-sweet endings are the best--scientific fact.

I'm not sure I'm up to scrubbing through the last two episodes for clips.

    What a fantastic ending.

Aww man, I was hoping to see one of the awesome summoning/transformation/whatever it is, with the kanji title card:

I guess the entire last episode could made into incredible gifs, though. Great job on all of these, they must be a pain in the ass to put together.

Which one of your gifs is world-famous?

I'd have learnt nothing from Gurren Lagann if I gave up now! I've done episodes 25 and 26, but I'm gonna take a break before I do 27; been doing these for about 2 hours. The last episode's gonna take a lot more effort, too, with so many fight-scenes. And I'm glad you're enjoying them! There'd be no point in me doing them if people didn't.

    Spoiler!

As for the 'world-famous' gif, it's actually one of my worst. Taken from a 360p trailer on YouTube. FIgures.

    Damn, you're right. Nice catch.

Also, I just spent a solid minute watching the guy in that gif blow his brains out over and over, so I need to clear my head.

I looked up that movie and I just have no interest in watching it at all.

Now I'm thinking of Budd Dwyer. God damn this thread.

I guess I need to represent the Gundams, since Rev has disappeared.

    Oh, you ... .

I always liked the design of the main robot in Patlabor, but I never got too far into that franchise. I think I remember one or two of the movies. Who do they fight, though? Are there evil bad guy robots, too?

I like Gundam, the politics of it are quite interesting - atleast the UC timeline.

Also, people make art like this because of it:

And I am very ok with that.

Nah, they're just regular cops that handle Labor related crimes, like theft and vandalism. Labors were basically just fancy tanks and forklifts. But since it's such a niche area of policing they're basically seen as glorified traffic cops by the higher ups. Of course, that they're good at what they do and end up saving the day when no-one else can.

It was a different kind of mecha anime because it was a cop show at heart. You basically had a M*A*S*H-esque cast of characters stuck on the oustkirts of Tokyo, winding each other up while waiting for the call. Then they'd get call in and solve a mystery with brute force. I'm pretty sure it was supposed to a little satirical in that sense.

The movies were set after the series, hence the change in tone.

Started watching Mushishi. Very subdued show, demands attention rather than crying for it. Nice change of pace.

Apparently Hajime no Ippo's returning this fall. Looking forward to that.
