Marathoned through seasons 1-3 of Teekyuu to catch up for season 4. Jesus Christ... I don't recommend doing that unless you have a pound of meth to keep up with it. Gotta put that shit at half speed just to catch everything.

Which inadvertently adds a new layer or terror to it all...

So stuff I tried watching as of late:

Space Brothers: 26 episodes in and it's just as good as it was when I started. The characters are so passionate and likable that learning all the mundane details of their lives and how they got to where they are is consistently interesting and engaging.

    Kyoukai no Rinne:
A middle ground between Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yastura and Inuyasha, leaning more heavily toward Ranma. When the deadbeat dad shows up it will lean even further toward Ranma. A solid B-tier comedy series if you're tired of Moe.

    Gintama:
Had never watched it before. The new episodes from this season are actually quite entertaining. The show is straight up laugh out loud funny when it hits its stride. A straight up A-tier comedy that isn't hard to get into at any point. I'll be looking in to the older episodes at some point.

    Nisekoi:
This season for one reason or another doesn't seem as entertaining as the first, but it's still one of the best romantic comedy choices considering how slick the presentation is. Probably not going to keep watching it considering I have other comedy series I can watch.

    Jojo:
Has actually been really good lately even if it's really drawn out compared to the first two seasons. The fact that they're handling it this smoothly has me really looking forward to the next season when we get into the really weird material most casual fans have never even heard of.

Fate/Stay Night: Completely redundant series that needed an entire season before it started going in a significantly different direction than the original series. It is extremely well done and one of the top series of the season if you never checked out the older stuff. It's not at all recommended if you have seen the original, though.

One Piece: It will NEVER be as bad as Naruto or Bleach are/were, but the story is running along pretty slowly right now. The current story arc is one of the best in a while despite padding out the pace, though the comic obviously is more heavily recommended.

Is it wrong to try and pick up girls in a dungeon: It's cliched trash, but competent generic RPG fare in spite of its really blatant harem elements (his feelings make him stronger, it's straight out of some crappy dating sim game.) Basically it's like popcorn. Completely lacking in substance but still okay as a snack.

    Parasyte:
So far best overall anime of both 2014 and 2015. Struggled a little bit near the end of the middle, but an enthralling and generally well done show that can pull in both traditional anime fans and regular non-anime viewers. In that regards it's another Attack on Titan, but with a smarter plot and less gore.

Magic Kaito 1412: Entertaining Detective Conan spin-off that ultimately has a completely inane plot but is fun for its magician and thief angle. Only really recommend to Conan fans.

Great Teacher Onizuka: Still just as good as ever. Hit this shit up on Crunchy if you've never watched it.

Kill la Kill: Still entertaining. Not as good the second time around when you start to notice the cheap as shit animation and how drawn out the plot feels sometimes. The show could have easily been 13 episodes.

    Whoa, that's a lot.

How did I get through an entire season of Love Live! without looking it up on Pixiv even once? So much Maki. So much porn...

The other day, I took a glimpse of the original JoJo OVA just to compare it with the new show. Watched the D'Arby episode(s) because that's one of my favourites so far. Among other things, they really upped the audio and visual effects on the new one. Scenes just feel way more impactful.

Been more involved this season than in a while, just some thoughts...

Sausage Lips X Shy Girl – Thank God they let go of that misunderstanding premise, was about to drop it if they were going to drag the whole show on like that.

Arslan – read a bit of the manga, so nothing surprising so far, action seems a bit stifled and I can’t tell if it’s because horseback fighting is hard to animate or if they’re trying to avoid the gorier aspects. If it’s the latter then I’m curious about how they handle some upcoming scenes.

Gintama – First exposure to this, pretty funny except for that thing in Japan where they think someone shout-splaining the joke is a joke.

Euphonium – Still too soon to call, but gorgeous as expected.

Plastic Memories – Blatantly manipulative? Yes. Is it working on me? Yes.

SNAFU Season 2 – Oof, this show hits too close to home sometimes, it’s like Watamote without the sense of commiseration. Good drama, doesn’t spell everything out, was infuriating to see people during season 1 who couldn’t read between the lines and thought it was “revenge porn” for loners. Probably may fave of the season so far.

I've been watching From The New World. I'm liking it so far. I find the premise interesting, and I'm getting some real Time Machine vibes from it. For those that don't know, it's set in a future about 1000 years from now, in which some humans manifest telekinetic powers. They rule as gods over the ones that don't manifest them. Not only do they lack these powers, but they seem to have degenerated into rat people. Technology seems to have degenerated, too, with the people leading quite a rural life. The story follows a group of kids--of course--that are enrolled in a school specialising in the harnessing of their abilities. Danger is afoot, though, as students are going missing. I'm only a couple episodes in, but this is feeling pretty solid.

    Agreed on both counts.

So far, I like that Nisekoi S2 is telling stories from different characters perspectives, rather than seeing everything through Raku's POV. It's helping to deepen the characters a little bit more.

Holy fucking shit. I'm seeing them live again in a couple weeks. I'm tracking this show down with a quickness.
