Gears of War PC?

So who here has tried Gears on the PC? I'm getting a brand new computer in a week or two, and I finally will have a rig that can Handle Gears on the PC, so is it any different from the 360 version?

This new rig will also have XP on it, so can I still play online, despite me not having "windows live" (which in my opinion is just stealing because PC games online should always be free.)?

It's got an extra chapter over the 360 version. That's pretty cool, getta' see the Brumak (big dinosaur with guns thing) alot more, shoot it a bit, that kinda' thing. Nothing too special, definitely not worth the box price if you've already got Gears for the Xbox.

The windows live thing is built into the game which is great because it won't let you play until you've updated the game, what really tops it off is that my copy loved to crash just as the update finished. Aces.

I played the Brumak chapter and haven't touched it since. Highly not recommended.

Ill agree with pyramid head. The extra chapters are frustrating and the checkpoints are few and far between. Not to mention, im pretty sure the game is slightly harder than on xbox anyway. So dont buy if you already have the xbox version.

If you dont however, its still a damn good game. In particular, the multiplayer is simple but awesome.

Must disagree with above posters. Let me point that at least where I am, Gears of War PC is getting pretty cheap, I've seen it around for 39.99, and on sale for 29.99.

My only warning is that you really should have a co-op partner because that's what really makes Gears fun. It's not harder on the PC like the guy above said, and the extra chapters aren't really that frustrating either, at least from my experience.

All in all a solid experience but only if you have a friend to play with. which... is pretty much the case with gears of war on 360 too.
