I watched the first 2 episodes, have yet to watch the third. It's a really well done documentary, and some of the shots they managed to get looked amazing (even on a 32" SDTV )

The slo-mo clip of the great white jumping out of the water and catching the seal in it's jaws was bad ass.

Besides being an interesting documentary on various ecosystems around the world, one of the best parts is the last 3 minutes explaining how the camera men get some of these incredible pictures in "Capturing the Moment".

For example, in the Mountains episode an expedition went out in January 2004 to the mountains of Afghanistan looking for snow leopards. They had to set up motion sensing remote cameras to get most of the footage.
Later another expedition went in December of the same year and caught the chase scene almost by accident.

    Neato stuff

Sigourney Weaver is the narrator in the US version. I thought that was an odd choice.

EDIT: Slim beat me to the punch.

WHAT!? David Attenborough is, quite literally, the bomb. The guy can make anything sound interesting! If you enjoy Planet Earth then Life Of Insects and Blue Planet are two other documentaries you should definitely get into.

Oops, I meant Life In The Undergrowth. It is a fantastic program. It features some sweaty slug sex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKPBCXdR6yo

Life of Mammals is also pretty cool.

Shit shit shit shit shit. I missed it. And I didn't Tivo it. And if I did it would have been SD since I bought my HD Tivo Monday, but I've got to save for a lifetime card again. (My Series 2 has it, but it's non-transferrable of course)

    Bah!

I watched the first two episodes but I don't have a fancy HDTV. It still looks good though.

    Take your pic for narrator:

    Alec Baldwin or Carrottop.

I watched them. Twice. (I was writing an article during the second go-through.) It was pretty good, but really it just made me wish I owned an HDTV.

Actually Attenburgh is a really good narrator. I think he did one called the sexual lives of plants. Lots of inuendo in that one. Very well done.

We actually went over to a friends house for some excellent dinner and Plant Earth afterward. I liked the 3rd hour the best, some wierd wacky stuff in the deep ocean.

Totally been looking forward to this series.
