I'm going to attempt doing community interviews with frontpagers and forumites alike, and I'd like to use the forums to gauge initial interest in it (four I's in a row, suckas). I'm looking to keep it light yet serious - jokes are all well and good, and it can go into interesting territory, but I really want to keep it civil and have something we can put on the frontpage. Something to show off in public, to let the denizens of the surface world know that there's a whole other universe down here with long history and multiple longstanding inhabitants, while also giving the frontpagers a chance to say something more about themselves or their hobby without needing an upvote to confirm its place in society.
Would you like to read something like that? Would you make an effort to catch it?
Would you even care? Let me know what you think - honest feedback, please.
If you like the idea, feel free to sign up. I'll try to get everyone who wants some shine their day in the virtual sun...or at least as much virtual sun as I can offer you on a Cblog.
An idea: There will be standardized questions, but if you provide an answer that I think is interesting, don't be surprised if I ask for expansion on a particular subject via PM or Skype or whatever. If you've got a point of view that nobody has seemed to consider, or you've got something that I think might deserve a little more exposition, I may ask you for more material. In fact, count on it.
Also, if you send an answer back and it's a grammatical nightmare, please know that I will have to clean it up before I put it out there. As such, do try to have it looking good before you send it back, as I don't feel like doing a lot of editorial work for the low, low cost of free.
I will send you a list of questions if you're selected, and you can feel free to answer them however you see fit. Your answers will be subject to moderation, so please, use your best judgement on subject tone so I don't have to send it back - bottom line, be classy.
Looking forward to doing my part in getting the community some more exposure.
