    dtoidmad RAGE

So yeah, that RAGE comes out tonight/tomorrow for you Amerifags (and Thursday/Friday for Eurofags), and already the game's getting some pretty middling scores, with the Miami Herald saying: "Although the picture is nominally the story of a man with a murderous temper, it is less a thriller than a metaphor for the plight of illegal immigrants."

But hey, reviews are dumb right? How many of you folks are getting it/hyped?!

It's good to know Triple H endorses this game.

You so funny Max, linking to the movie and not the game.

9.5 from EGM. 8.5 from IGN (imagine that).

Frankly I could give a shit less anyway. I was going to get this game even if the reviewers said it gave them cancer. Indeed, based on the little hint from Sterling earlier on Twitter, I'm expecting he's going to rip into it. Which is fine, still buying it.

It's id software. They could make a game consisting of nothing but filling out tax forms and I'd pre-order the collector's edition. I try not to be too much of a fanboy when I can help it, but id software is the exception. John Carmack is my personal Jesus Christ.

An 8.5 is treated as a bad score.

Did you take it to mean I was saying 8.5 was bad? That wasn't my intention. Just pointing out how IGN gives out that score VERY frequently. In fact it's kind of a running joke. It'd be a great score if it meant anything, but coming from them it doesn't anymore. That's the point I was trying to make, hopefully that came across.

Hugh Morrus doesn't find IGN's 8.5 very funny!

Getting the distinct impression from twitter posts that I'm about to look very stupid for being so excited for this game. Oh well. I'll still play it but goddammit.

After Ben Kuchera trashed the fuck out of it, I'm gonna hold off until Jim get his review up to buy the game.

That seemed unnecessarily harsh. Granted I haven't played the game so maybe it is that bad but some of what he said seemed a bit mean-spirited.

I was going to make a GIF of Hugh Morrus doing a moonsault onto the 8.5 IGN score, but I can't. I have no Photoshop skills.

So instead, just imaging Hugh Morrus moonsaulting the 8.5 score. With your minds.

Jim gave it a 7/10. From what I've got from his review, the game is solid and fun, but rather disappointing/frustrating, as it could have been much more.

I have huge respect for id, but I was a bit "cautious" about this game: it just looks too generic, regardless of how beautiful it is.

Meh, a 7/10 isn't a bad rating. However, I'm going to be picking up Dark Souls in another hour, so I think I'll let this one slide by for the time being. Probably rent Rage on the flip side of winter. For now it's time to get reacquainted with my PS3 and constant death.

Installing the game on my PC now. I've been wanting this game for a long time, so almost no review is going to sway me against buying it. It sounds as though the hate against this game is people expecting it to play like Borderlands instread of an id shooter. I am going into this game expecting a slightly more open id shooter. I'll post my impressions in a bit.

I'm having a blast with it. It's an old-school shooter with some driving in it. If you're not into those than you're not going to enjoy it. But I do, and I am.
