There were a few others who lost or had their accents reduced slightly. I think Mei Ling, Natasha and Psycho Mantis also lost some of their accent.

Oh yeah, they explained Mei Ling away by saying she wasn't actually Chinese. More realistic I suppose but the accents did at least make it more interesting to listen to.

And to answer my own question, I was wrong, apparently it's not too soon for another HD set. Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection coming to PS3.

Is it bad if I've owned Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, 3, 4, PO and Peace Walker individually, but still bought the MGS1-MGS3 collection for PS2, the MGS2-Peace Walker collection for PS3, and totally want to buy Legacy Collection, too?

  4. #104
No, I think it just means Konami are arseholes.

It would have been justifiable if they were bringing it to other consoles. I'd still love to play MGS4 on the 360, or, even--shock horror--the PC.

Sadly, the playthrough I watched on YouTube will have to suffice. Guy kept jiggling everyone's tits.

I'd love to play 4 on PC, definitely not the best MGS but would've looked a whole lot better on PC.

I'd just like to play it, to be honest.

I wish I could unplay it. I genuinely hope nothing of MGS4 influences TPP, except how not to make a game/movie/story/script.

No joke, I actually skipped the majority of the cutscenes the first three or four times I played through the game. Had no idea what was going on most of the time but on the plus side didn't have to sit through an hour of cutscenes just to play the game for five minutes.

The distance between cutscene and gameplay is usually pretty bad in MGS games but 4 was the worst in that regard.

Seems as if that's the best way to play it, I wish I had skipped them too. I had a lot of fun with the game itself, even if it is a little mechanically flawed, but the plot just soured the whole experience. I can't understand the praise that game's writing got when it was released, to me it was very lazily executed.

I hope, since this is PS3 exclusive, that they re-include Snake VS Monkey (and, guy savage, and secret theater, and MGO 1.0) for MGS3.

Also get rid of the stupid texture "Easter Eggs" BluePoint threw in. And give us our roaches back. And return grenade fuses to their original length.

Also Also, output mgs at a crisp resolution without texture tearing.

Regardless, I will be importing the inevitable Japan only special edition with artbook, model, steelbook, iPhone case, PS3 of a black, but not actually black color and soundtrack.

    god damn you Kojima

I think Rev pointed out awhile back that the disappearance of the roaches was related to how they tried to convert the PS2 game over to PS3 so it might not be possible, I agree with you though generally, if they can bring that stuff back it'd be nice.

What were the texture easter eggs BluePoint put in?

I wouldn't say it was lazy, it was just so incredibly bloated was the problem. There's so many concurrent threads in the story that are explored in way too much detail - Sunny for example, and Meryl's lovelife, and a lot of the stuff to do with Raiden.

Kojima seriously needed an editor for that game, playing Peace Walker after replaying that was like a breath of fresh air.

Maybe lazy isn't the right word, but I'm specifically referring to how nanomachines were used to wrap up certain story threads that frankly I felt deserved better.

The game could have done without Sunny and Meryl to be honest, it's not like they didn't add anything to the game, but I wouldn't miss them if they miraculously disappeared. The other members of Meryl's team were basically pointless. Johnny did have an impact on the story but it was a completely unnecessary one in my opinion. The pant shitting fart joke of the series saving the day, getting the girl, and turning out to look like a Burberry model was never on my list of things I wanted to see.

Yeah, they definitely could have cut most of that, or atleast reduced it to a passing comment in a cutscene near the end somewhere.

What were the story threads that were wrapped up using nanomachines?

Well the one that sticks out to me the most is Vamp's abilities. Personally I would have liked for Vamp to remain a mystery as he was one of the more intriguing characters from MGS2 for me. We already knew that Fortune was immortal thanks to nanomachines, leaving it until MGS4 to reveal basically exactly the same thing for Vamp came across as a little cheap.

Then there's the business with Liquid's personality, something else that I don't think needed to be explained. As it turned out one of the main plot points of the entire series came about as a result of nanomachines, and hypnosis. Same story with the reasons behind Snake wanting to kill himself.

Nanomachines were an interesting concept for sure, but I just think they went a little too far with it. Similar to midi-chlorians in Star Wars, only that was never interesting.

Or how Raiden sacrifices himself for Snake to escape the impending crush of OH, only to be lolOkay as announced by a conversation a couple minutes later. Pansy writing for a bait and switch with a shit reveal. I feel like every character ended up with a worse fate in MGS4 than what I would've imagined had they not felt the need to TRY to tie up every loose end.

For me, it was all summed up with Rising's fairly tongue-in-cheek, "Nanomachines, son!"

I liked 4 for the most part, and you should know the drawbacks of putting up with kojima's proclivities at this point. but yeah, loved the 'noir' sequence. That said, I only played through it once. but again, you know the dangers of playing it again.
