I bought Deadly Premonition with zero prior knowledge based upon a single line in Jim Sterling's review.

I wish Jim Sterling reviewed everything in life so I would know what to do.

I'm a sucker for anything stylized. I loved Jet Set Radio Future because of the art style. I love Ninja Gaiden 1&2 (THERE IS NO NG3. *plugs ears and closes eyes* LALALALA) because of the fluid and acrobatic combat.

Of course, substance beyond style has to be there, or it'll get boring quickly.

EDIT: Actually, this thread should be in the "General Discussion" section.

I bought Saints Row The Third because of the promise of lulz. And it provided.

I did as well. Saw it for $10, and couldn't say no.

As for what made me buy my last game? I recently grabbed SVC: Streets of Rage Collection on XBLA because it's the best Beat 'Em Up to date (Eat it, Battletoads and Double Dragon).
