The first screenshot in the link Tarvu posted does look a lot like the town from 1, but considering you'd be killing random Americans in that it does seem somewhat unlikely they'd set it there.

Well, like I said I would expect them to just follow the films by either adapting them into a game or basing the game after them. If the former they'd probably shit on the film with an opening level where you fuck shit up there.

That would depend on the setting, probably.

I mean more like Rambo would dominate in the kind of environment he was trained to fight in, and out of that element Bond would be on par with or better than him.

John Matrix didn't cry at the end. Clearly we have a winner?!

As for Bond Vs Rambo, Bond wouldn't be stupid enough to go mano-o-mano. He would drop an explosive pen onto Rambo's head from his little mini-helicopter.

Ok. As the last poster so eloquently stated, Rambo clearly wins.

The game needs to be about stealthy survival, taking out pursuers in the wild one at a time with improvised traps and misdirection, and infiltration; the explosions come after he's caught or when you're on a mission of wrath.

Seriously, MGS3 perfectly encapsulates the Rambo series. If this game is all action, it'll completely miss the point of the first and best Rambo movie, disregard huge portions of two and four, and the intended rescue mission of three. Give us the survival and action gameplay tools along with the wilderness and a few encampments, then let us choose our method of attack and escape. I seriously hope they take notes from the best MGS, as I've been desperately wanting a Rambo game since the fourth movie.

Also, Dutch from Predator would destroy both Rambo and Matrix.

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In Vietnam his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well Rambo was the best.

    Yup.

If this game goes in the bad direction I'll change the OP to a montage of poop images.

    >not enjoying all the Rambo flicks, especially the first and last

Sure is low testosterone in here.

But seriously, they're all good in their own way. I listened to a radio interview with Stallone before Rambo 4 and he basically said he quit doing his movies because Hollywood was always fucking with them(after the first Rambo/Rocky). "You have to sell something, a product in the film to get a film made". The only reason he came back to his big 2 is he could do the Rambo and Rocky flicks how he wanted to do them.

For the game, if the gameplay is good I'll check it out.

This is still a game that is being made. Apparently they're using voice tracks from the original films. This game is going to suuuuuck.

They could use the audio from Bum Fights, as long as the gameplay is somewhat similar to a modern MGS3, it'll be awesome.

This will probably turn out to be a 3rd person cover/stealth shooter like MGS4 or Gears of War.
