The first was a social commentary on the state of the nation and many people's views on soldiers after Vietnam, the shock on soldiers who were wound up tight going in and came out without any unwinding, as well as the bigotry and backwardness of small hick towns. My dad worked on helicopter repair for three tours in 'Nam, but he was still greeted with rotten eggs, spitballs, and accusations of being a baby killer when he returned. All that was infused into an amazing action film. Rambo 2&3 were just outlandish action flicks without any purpose than to sell popcorn. The forth movie was still a basic action movie, and while the gore was exaggerated, it was bound to reality and told a decent story compared to the previous two.

As for a Rambo game, all I want is a current gen version off MGS3's jungle gameplay without the narrow forest corridor design and frequent load sections. I would buy that day one. Wideness survival needs to be a genre.

I wish the game would be based on the first movie but that seems unlikely. It'll probably just be him blowing shit up, and I will still buy it.

Because fuck Pokemon, I had the entire set of Rambo II cards when I was in grade school.

I didn't want to make that comparison, but yes that would be good.

Alright, Aurain just brought up a very important question.

Could John Rambo defeat John Matrix, as portrayed in the 1985 classic "Commando"?

I'm surprised that film hasn't been made yet.

I've been seeing previews of it. It is called "Expendables II".

I don't think it would be so simple. Rambo has tracking and evasion skills too, as shown when he buried himself in mud and slit that one dude's throat.

Actually, did he kill that guy or just scare the shit of him? I forgot if that was in part one or two.

No. It is Bane fighting Bane. Batman doesn't kill people.

John Matrix's senses are far and above those of a human.
    Even his nostrils lift.
I don't think you're taking this seriously Aurain.

It would be pretty evenly matched, on every conceivable level. Skills, training, mindset, everything. As a matter of fact I can't even imagine why these guys would fight. A minor disagreement once in a while, yeah. But fight to the death over ideals? Nah.

The only difference is Matrix has a daughter, therefore his sociopathy isn't as complete or as deep as Rambo's. Then again Rambo does go home at the end of part four, and they never tell you if his family is still alive or not. So they could be equal there too.

LOL DEEDY LOL LOL LOL. Yeah, that last World War went sooo much better for the Nazis than it did for us.

Can you go ask Mom to give us a Godwin's Law badge now? Because by God, I just earned it.

I'd play a Rambo game if it was like Splinter Cell: Conviction/Arkham Asylum, with the odd shoot-em-up section.

I used to own First Blood: Part 2 for the Amstrad and it was balls hard.

Oh go ahead and take the trophy, English. Just as long as those Nazis stay dead.

That makes no sense though, because the entire point of Rambo is to shoot things and make them explode. He even blew a dude up with a bow and arrow once. Hot damn, I love that part.

In the first one, he's a stealthy bugger. In the second, he's stealthy up until he gets captured and goes into a rage. In the third, he just kills anything that moves. In the fourth, he just mumbles and looks sad, lets a bunch of mates do the heavy lifting, then manages to beat their score in 10 minutes.
