Seriously one my favorite RPG series that I feel is lost in the abyss of series cut off by Squeenix that will probably turn into MMOG someday - had the sickest blend of Fantasy + Sci-Fi & the combat system was probably one of the best in its day.

How could the series reinvent itself?

I only played about half of the first game on a Snes emulator. loved the shit out of it but got a corrupted save.

I loved the SNES one too. I got lost after not having played it in awhile though so I never beat it. I recently got Second Departure (PSP) and Til The End of Time (PS2) and am looking forward to 'em as well. (Even though Til The End of Time was spoiled for me........grrr.) Great series.
It's too bad the Game Boy Color game never received an English version. (Or a completed English translation patch.)

But to answer some of those questions, the SNES one was my introduction and I'm hoping for a new one that is similar in gameplay to the SNES one, but maybe a little more streamlined when it comes to the skills. (Maybe I'm thinking of Second Departure's battle system, whatever.)
