Diskobolos – More than meets the eye

I already posted the game in the “currently playing” thread some days ago. So here’s the story continued:


I stumbled across an iPhone game called Diskobolos mainly because it’s developed by a new Austrian indie studio. I’m from Austria and a game from my home country is quite a thing. Because of the country’s size something like a videogame industry does barely exist here (Austria has not invented anything useful apart from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Red Bull in over 2000 years).


And because the game got some good reviews, I’m a nice guy and felt a little pity for the developers (as the game definitely does not look as hot as top iOS games) I bought it.


And let me tell you: IT IS F****** FUN TO PLAY! Usually I’m not into highscore games (it’s kind of a mix of Bubble Bobble and Geometry Wars) but somehow it just “clicked” and currently it is my favorite iOS game. The game seems to be fairly simple at first sight but the combo mechanics made the game a quite deep playing experience to me, especially for an iOS game.


Anyway, sorry for the fanboy talk. Maybe I’m a little too enthusiastic because my expencations of the games were pretty low and now I really enjoy it. If you are somehow into high score games I recommend giving it a try. Even it is just to tell me I’m insane and the game is actually crap

You basically shoot discs at kind of space insects..... I guess Not much of a story there so far.

But I just looked it up, they have a site with some screenshots and a short trailer.
