    If you're willing to try some older games there were some pretty amazing pirate games in the early 90's like Buccaneer, Man of War, Age of Sail and Conquest at Sea, and Cutthroats that are all pretty good and all likely freeware now on PC.

    If your a fan of adventure games I would have to throw my vote in for Monkey Island. Tales from Monkey Island was a great game and its fairly recent released in the last couple of years.
