Seems like thats the way the genre is going Hatman. I'm struggling to think of the last purely survival horror style experience on a console. Dead Space 1? Amy? (that was the name of that shit xbla game right?)

Fuck gratuitous genre defining anyway. Crazy bored people do that right man?

True, but it doesn't negate my point, you can have good action tinged with horror. You just can't have pure action and pure horror in one game for the reasons stated in the video.

Don't get me wrong I loved DS2 and of course RE4 pretty much started this whole action survival sub-genre (sub-genres are fun kids!!!) but i'm hoping we get more edge of the seat stuff in DS3. Less resources more being overwhelmed, that sort of stuff.

sub-sub-sub genre: unnecessary reverse of productive analysis. I'm kidding but Dead Space 2 was about as edge of your seat gets, shit was awesome.

man, Dead Space 2 is even more scary. Ended up playing through Dead Space almost 3 times and just put in 2 last night. Having to use the flashlight just adds to the creepy atmosphere. I love the harpoon mechanic. My cardiologist does not approve, but this game is great to play at night in a dark house with the X41s

I think the only solution is sports/horror games.

Ugh. That gives me flashbacks to that horrible Zero-G Basketball game in the original Dead Space.

I hope they show off the setting more, and any interesting set pieces, I'm curious to see what they've got lined up in that regard.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw these screen shots. I thought it was a mix of Army of Two and Gears of War.

The best part of Dead Space 2 was always stomping on people untill their head falls off, grabbing the head with kinesis, and thereafter launching the head at the wall, so that it explodes into hundreds of pieces.

I would of gone with the set pieces, but yeah sure I guess.

    1. We don't know if the entire game is co-op. Could just be an extra bit like Portal 2.
    2. Dead Space 2 was an action shooter through and through. Would it really have been so much worse if it had been a co-op shooter?

    Glass half full for me.
