I signed up after lurking for awhile just to say... I'm kind of in love with this thread. It's got humor, pathos, tragedy, comedy, barely intelligible grunting... Pretty epic stuff.

Even just for the whole arc of Mr Andy Dixon... from starry-eyed ingenue full of hope to bitter, hardened, miserable, cynical, (possibly suicidally depressed) wreck of a man. It's worth the 26 pages of forum posts just for that.

I just turned off the demo myself. The whole thing just felt... joyless. Perfunctory. (If that's a thing you can actually get a sense of in about 15 minutes or so.) I got to the zombies with guns, laughed out loud and shut it down. Granted, my opinion has been pretty poisoned against the game at this point from announcement after sad announcement. It was probably never going to win with me. I was still hoping, though...

Maybe it'll go down easier for the people who don't have a history with the series. Or those who just want to shoot things in the face. Though I doubt there will be the five million people they're say they need to justify their existence. Between BioShock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Gears Of War: Judgement, I reckon I'll be busy enough this quarter anyway.

I used to worry about not really owning my games on PC because you couldn't resell them but I don't ever see myself paying $60 for a PC game anyway. Plus all the games you can buy for under $20 negates needing a trade-in system.

Played the single player demo. Mixed feelings, but definitely NOT buying it new. It still feels solid and the new environment is interesting, but I can't go encouraging EA.

I can understand when this kind of thing happens after they buy a studio/series and try to shape it into something else (I still think it's bullshit), but when it's a series that has been in EA's posession, in the same in-house studio, it just seems exponentially more of a dick move.

This is me being nitpicky but I'm not crazy about the games new "antique scifi" aesthetic what with all the rust and green-tinted computer modules.

The ending has been uploaded to[dailymotion] . I usually avoid stuff like this, bt I have already decided that this game is a hollow shell of it's former self. This di nothing to sway me, but also nothing to convince me that I am 100% right.
