I wasn't very keen on that, felt like something they just put in to make the game a little easier.

Yeah, sadly, it was. More so in the first game when you didn't really need oxygen tanks, and if you saved enough, you made a fortune to spend on nodes. Same went for guns you didn't use; you could keep the gun but the ammo packs would bring in a hefty sum. Add to that the save point nearby, and you could easily test things out and reload if necessary.
It was much better when the workbench was placed further away from the save points/shops. That's when the dilemmas worked, really.

PS - Hamza's got a more in-depth weapon crafting post coming later today. SHOULD MAKE ALL YOU MOTHERFUCKERS REALLY HAPPY TO HAVE MORE SHIT TO BITCH ABOUT RFJDAFJDL; ASFJASL; JFDAS;FKJASDLFJSKL;J;!

I await the bait.
I dunno what the last bit means but more detail is cool.

I've edited this comment like five times now because every time it comes out sounding dickish. So I'll just say this: I think this looks like fun, and in no way does it appear to dumb down/streamline the game.
So at least they got THIS change right.
When do I get to put a chainsaw on my Lancer?

That actually looks pretty good, not sure how scary it'll be carrying a dual plasmacutter/flamethrower though.
You underestimate the horrifying nature of Locusts.
But surely the Co-op bro-cuddles will cancel out that horror?

I dunno, there's still things you can do co-op that will make you jump but ultimately make you both piss yourselves laughing rather than being terrified.
Berserker in the first Gears was one for me and Dead Island has that affect too.
The mechanics sound like good decisions for a shooter. But I thought this was about an engineer fighting aliens in space, alone, while fighting his own mental visions during any downtime? How scary is it when you're empowered with rocket launchers, time-slowing bullets, flaming chainsaws, etc, and a partner by your side?
I get the feeling that ammo will be even more abundant, and there will be even more extended shootout sections, with some cover firing sections sprinkled between. At least all that shooting will be fun with high powered, altered weapons!!11
Best case scenario, which I think won't happen because EA: the higher difficulties make ammo sparse (almost definitely will happen), and the solo adventure foregoes some of the inevitable action pieces in favor of the tense, slow, ambush-at-any-second pacing (amost impossible for me to imagine EA would pay devs for separate gameplay that doesn't promote their online pass).

Just piping in to remind everyone this game is going to be ass. Peace.
Some gameplay from early on in the game + developer talk inbetween; it's pretty much what you'd expect.
This actually didn't look too bad. My gut tells me it's going to be worse than the first two, but I found the content in the video passable. Maybe RE6 taught me that things could be a lot worse. I just wish they'd bring back the laser sights and get rid of that cursor, even if it tries to look the same.
I think it'll be better than 1 but not as good as 2.
Edit: Okay, it does look like it's trying to hard to do its best Uncharted impression.
It looks straight up Star Wars 1313. After the action set piece bigger than DS2, you see a fearless Isaac delve right into combat. Dead Space 3, the dimly lit limb shooter, with human enemies, too.
