I think there have been a few cases of somebody claiming a role that a live player has, but it was in the interests of the person still alive to stay quiet.

Whenever I was a werewolf I toyed with faking Seer (since it would be incredibly easy as you know everyone's team already) but "proof" would come at the price of killing one of your own, and if the real Seer stepped forward you would be fucked if they decided to test the theory by killing.

Every time I ever considered faking a role it was always too risky, though I can't speak for everybody on that.

There is no real downside to not having a Sheriff at this point. At best we give it to a Villager who doesn't have any information, and he has a double vote to lynch a Villager or a Werewolf (but more likely a Villager). Less good would be to give it to the Seer, because it would paint a target on his back. Worst of all would be to give it to a Werewolf.

As far as why I haven't nominated myself, I did in the past when I had a role with the potential for more information than others. I was better suited for it then, and now, I'm just a vanilla Villager, so I'd fall into the first category up there. If I had it it wouldn't make much of a difference, because I have no intention of hanging anybody right now, but I don't see it giving me any sort of benefit at the moment.

I have no real definite suspects, but I lean towards Clown for my already stated reasons, and now Dex. Dex because he claims to be a vanilla villager.

On the one hand, while we know we have at least one, possibly two vanillas, the odds aren't in Dex's favor to be one. They're not in anybody's. Yes we have one or two, but I'm playing the odds here. Also, it does us villagers no good to come out and say that you're vanilla, since it just narrows down the wolves' hit list of important roles. Wouldn't Dex know that?
