Has anyone heard about the recent weird noises eminating around the world this past week? I'm just reading up on some now. It could all be some hoax/viral thing, but there's quite a few recordings from different parts of the world. Just weird I haven't heard about this from anyone else.

Oh jeez, somebody posted about this in Steamtoid earlier and I didn't know what to make of it.

When I start hearing things I usually accept that I am crazy and move on.

Ah so. I'm not sure what to think, couple videos I've watched it's a different noise.

Someone is claiming Red State viral, which came out a while ago and the plot has nothing to do with 'noises'.
Someone who recorded sounds in Ireland said it might be...a...Banshee!!

Oh eck, you're right. I'm a dur. Trumpets and Rapture. But still ... the film came out and I doubt some hick in Armagh (I mean person) would be part of the viral campaign. =/

Yeah, but one guy on there actually had some info (just looked to see the craziness). Apparently, this kind of stuff has happened in the past (1850s and 1860s). It seems it's just a random phenomenon.

Woah, that's really weird. Neat to hear though, I'm guessing some sort of weird reaction from plates moving and somehow making these screechy overtones.

I just can't believe that the earths plates moving causes that noise...I mean they'd need to move pretty fast, or faster than they do to produce something we'd hear on any level surely.

Of course they're big, but they move very slowly. We don't notice them. Same way that if the earth rotates, we don't all get sent flying when we get up to go for a pee. Least that's what I remember from geography classes. Plus some of the noises varied a lot of them seem to sound like something massive and metal moving. Like a big ol' cog.

I don't think aliens, I think it's nothing to worry about if, probably is just made up. But if it isn't made up it's itneresting to figure out what it could be. Maybe a man made action resulted in the noises.

I mean, just to make a somewhat personal connection, I can hear really crazy high screechy noises when certain electronics are on, that most can't seem to hear. Maybe they could be somehow mixed in with other sounds to make a crazy otherworldly sound like that.

I really have no idea what it could be but it's making me think really hard about it all...

Yeah, I get that too. Like when a TV's screen is black because it's on the wrong input, so people think it's off, I can hear that electronic sound from across the room.

I'm not sure which is sillier-- the Red State viral campaign claims (an extremely obscure viral campaign for a god-awful movie that was released months ago?) or the theory that the tectonic plates have suddenly and inexplicably started making sounds like trains screeching to a halt.

Yup yup. The Red State thing came out of nowhere (regardless of the end scenes of the film) & a bunch of people are adamant and the plates thing...yeah both theories1 are just no no's.
