That same article linked says this:

In our demo she always managed to keep up, yet stay out of the way. She didn't seem to need any babysitting at all.

The fact that Joel is there at all does imply that she isn't fully capable of taking care of herself. Not that she probably doesn't help him out, but I definitely got a protector vibe out of the trailer. I don't think the game is going to be a giant escort mission, but I'm sure his guardianship will play a role in the story.

I feel the same. It would've been a perfect coop game, too, possibly. Like RE5, but better.

New Game Informer has a long article on the game. Quite a good read. Shows a ton of screenshots involving human enemies, but none of the monsters from the trailer. It also shows Ellie getting strangled by a hobo after successfully using her skills to fully take care of herself.

Maybe in multiplayer, but Naughty Dog has yet to release single-player story DLCs, unfortunately.

Man, that games looks beautiful. I know that it was just cutscenes, but damn! Also, that may be in-game, since Naughty Dog doesn't use CGI for their cutscenes (not with Uncharted, at least).

Also, interesting to see we'll have to fight 'normal people' besides the fungus-infected-zombies.

Psychopaths seem more dangerous than zombies. You know all zombies want to kill you, without exception. Survivors might pose as friendly, then backstab you and your family, rape the women, or whatever else they want.
