I think it also depends on what, if any, Bodyguard-type role is in play. The Seer-type role can safely come out earlier with information with certain Bodyguard-types.

It seems in this one the role is a Bodyguard by proxy, and since the changing of the guard passes it between different players with different ideas of how to play I don't think it would be smart in this game. Plus, I'm not even sure the rules exclude Monsters from being the bodyguard.

Bodyguard
- Assigns a "traditional" bodyguard each day. Can not assign self, but can assign nobody.
- Assignment should be made prior to the night phase to speed up the game.

Even if the seer had found a monster on day one it would be pretty dumb to reveal that knowledge. A seer should balance learning as much as they can before revealing themselves with the risk of being randomly targeted.

I think it's just some weird wording on CB's part. The way I look at it, I think it's just a regular bodyguard, but they're not allowed to protect themselves and they can protect nobody. I think his "assign" just means whoever is assigned to be protected.

To me the BG role description reads clearly as a twist on the classic where he chooses a person every night to be the Bodyguard for that night, he cannot choose himself to be the Bodyguard but can choose no one if he wanted to for whatever reason.

Then again I'm not sure why CB would make it this way, it seems unnecessary to me and changes the mind game between the BG and the Wolves in such a way that might take away from some of the fun of it. We shall see, CB should elaborate.
