Frankly I could give a shit less anyway. I was going to get this game even if the reviewers said it gave them cancer. Indeed, based on the little hint from Sterling earlier on Twitter, I'm expecting he's going to rip into it. Which is fine, still buying it.
It's id software. They could make a game consisting of nothing but filling out tax forms and I'd pre-order the collector's edition. I try not to be too much of a fanboy when I can help it, but id software is the exception. John Carmack is my personal Jesus Christ.
Did you take it to mean I was saying 8.5 was bad? That wasn't my intention. Just pointing out how IGN gives out that score VERY frequently. In fact it's kind of a running joke. It'd be a great score if it meant anything, but coming from them it doesn't anymore. That's the point I was trying to make, hopefully that came across.
Meh, a 7/10 isn't a bad rating. However, I'm going to be picking up Dark Souls in another hour, so I think I'll let this one slide by for the time being. Probably rent Rage on the flip side of winter. For now it's time to get reacquainted with my PS3 and constant death.
Installing the game on my PC now. I've been wanting this game for a long time, so almost no review is going to sway me against buying it. It sounds as though the hate against this game is people expecting it to play like Borderlands instread of an id shooter. I am going into this game expecting a slightly more open id shooter. I'll post my impressions in a bit.
