    Eurogamer 2011

Eurogamer 2011 is a thing that happened, you should have been there.

You can find my recap of it here.

    ORIGINAL POST HERE:

    Oh, hey, look. Nobody made a thread for this. Why does nobody take Eurogamer seriously!? ;_;

Eurogamer is taking place from the 22nd to the 25th of September at Earl's Court, London. You can find a breakdown of games there and scheduled developer sessions here, and get your tickets here.

DtoidUK/DtoidEU community members will be in attendance at various points over the event. You can find the thread for it here in the DtoidEU mailer. There is no hostel accommodation being booked this year, since everybody has managed to find a rock to crawl under. If you want to join in on any Dtoid related happenings, perhaps introducing yourself in person to the community for the first time, this is a great event to do it at!

There might even be a badge for it soon. That's bound to get you motivated to go, right?

As it stands the plans so far include:

Friday night - Jurassic Park at a yet to be determined cinema in central London followed by drinks somewhere nice afterwards.

Saturday night - As far as I'm aware Karaoke is the main plan, I won't be there because Karaoke is the devils past time. I'll be watching Lost in Translation on a rooftop bar in London, it's just how I role.

Away the best place to follow all of this is the emailer no matter how off rails it gets.

    nikmonroe away!
So get on the goddamn mailer.

I'll be there on Sunday if the price for trains isn't loads by the time I have money to pay for the damn thing.

  3. #3
How much is it now and how much do you expect it to rise to?

  4. #4
15.50 for my train there. 22.75 for the train back. That could go up to 40 each but hopefully my mum will have money to borrow from before then.

I bet you'll end up standing for that price aswell, pff, stupid train companies.

Considering going to this, but the cheapest train tickets I can find are 73. Don't fancy paying that much.

I'm going to GAMEfest. I couldn't tell you why. I only just found out this year that the UK has games conferences. Further to that, I only found out after booking GAMEfest that Eurogamer was a far bigger/better event.

    Learning is a motherfucker sometimes.

Having said that I'm ALSO going to Eurogamer. I came to my senses, see. A bit too late, though, as I could only get a ticket for Sunday.

I'm lucky. I have a 16-25 railcard (not luck but whatever) and I live near Liverpool. 73 is a crazy price though for something that's a few weeks in advance.

Well then my faith is restored! We should wear roses in our waistcoats to pick each other out.

Wow. That is some real money right there. I paid half that for a return train ticket to Edinburgh from London. And that shit is in a whole other country.

Just fly, it'd be quicker and cheaper, bizarrely.

I don't think it'd be worth it, to be honest. I can only get tickets for Sunday now, so I'd be flying there and back - also stopping for the night somewhere - for just a day. I'd sooner keep my money for gamescom, really.

Plus, I'd miss a day of school.

Someone has done this before and it wasn't even during Eurogamer.

Afraid not. Flying from Newcastle Int to London Gatwick is only about 20 on Friday with FlyBe, but returning on Sunday or Monday is anything upward of 60.

Probably a lot cheaper than taking the train though.
