It won't be anytime soon. There's about a year-and-a-half of development left.
EDIT: Then again, we don't know when development started. It may have been in development since Halo: CE, guys.

It could have been in development for TWENTY YEARS.
EVERY ACTION MICROSOFT HAS EVER DONE HAS BEEN FOR HALO 4.
Psht, you people expect greatness from Microsoft having just watched that Keynote? u mad bros
Gears 3 = ass
Halo 4 = ass
imo
This is gonna be like Crash bandicoot games after Naughty Dog stopped making them.
Ass.
SO TRUE.
Well, arguably, the Fallout series was improved when it was taken from Interplay by Bethesda. But that depends on which generation of gamers you ask.
It definitely is case by case. But I don't think any studio on earth can recreate the magic Bungie has over the years. Halo CE remake is different because all the design has been done for them.
They're rather different games, Fallout games post and pre-Bethesda that is.
I really hate Bungie for just abandoning Halo. It's pretty selfish, but I'd sooner have them making Halo games forever than making new IPs. I think the level of community Bungie encouraged will evaporate with 343. No more weekly updates, sadly.
I'll probably forgive them when they reveal what they're working on, though.
Bethesda - and more prominently Obsidian - managed to retain the game's feel pretty well.
I feel like Bungie did enough with the franchise. Reach was pushing it, but that game is seriously the best one for me. I'm hype as hell for CE Remake too.
I like how no one even pretends to care about the storyline. Myself, I couldn't tell you anything that happened in three...Chief shot some aliens, then raced around in a dune buggy for a bit before getting sent into space. Something like that, right?
The hardest part of explaining Halo 3's storyline is where it starts, because in all honesty Bungie fucked up on that.
Halo's story would be a lot more interesting if Master Chief was somehow sent back in time and turned out to be the main character of Marathon. The theory's been going around for years, it would be trippy if Bungie actually did that.
Bungie *should* do that. Then put that game up against Halo 4. For lulz.

I do too, but more for the Chief than anything else.
