Well, with DP your input into the investigation was optional. It had those little moments you could solve yourself, but the main arc was all set out with clues being a requirement for moving forward. L.A. Noire's cases all have varying endings, optional clues, speech branches and red herrings. Plus, it doesn't end with the hero fighting a giant monster in alternative dimension.

Well no, LA Noire has lots of facial expressions. I haven't heard anything about this other stuff you mentioned yet.

I have $40 in my wallet and $20 off at best buy. I'll be broke for a little while again but it should be worth it. not spending any money until june after this game.

I want this game and I want it to be good. I saw the amazon deal for the preorder and was tempted. It would be great to see a blade runner game using the same game mechanics.

    Friday in the UK.

    *bites knuckles*

I've been on a bit of Marlowe movies/Chandler books binge in the meantime.

Westwood made a Blade Runner game in the mid 90's, which is exactly the kind of game you're after. It's one of my all time faves too.

I always wanted to play this, never got a chance to pick it up at retail. Wish it would pop up on Steam or something.

Keeping my fingers crossed I'll have enough money this paycheck after bills to grab L.A. Noire, if not I'll have to wait a few weeks.

Hey, Mxy. You can pick it up on eBay for next to nothing. Best of all, it's one of the few pre-Vista games that will work without a hitch on Vista/Win7.

So I haven't been looking into a lot. what is the gameplay breakdown going to be. 40% interrogation 30% shooting and brawling and 30% exploration? the Image capture thing seems like their biggest selling point I can't imagine them only using it a little bit. I guess reviews should be up soon that should let me know.

Love that game, but then again I'm a massive Blade Runner fanboy, so it's to be expected.

Jim Sterling gave LA Noire a 9/10 score. So it looks like Rockstar are onto something here. Giant Bomb has given the game 5 stars too.

The Europe release date coincides perfectly with my final exam of the year. What better way to celebrate than a game I had no interest in until recently.

OH god yes! Thank you Stevil!

I did the amazon deal and now I think I might pick up that Blade runner game to. Reminds me of the great days of point-click adventure games like Monkey Island, Dark Seed, and IhavenomoutandImustrcream.

PC or consoles need to have good voice recognition software/technology, so you could speak with the characters on the fly. Now that would be something.

Will update tomorrow as to whether or not I got it for my birthday, or which games I decided to trade in for it if I didn't lol

This is beginning to strongly remind me of RDR: never looked at this game twice during its production, now that it's out there's a ton of hubbub about it, sounds fantastic on paper... But I ended up hating RDR. Think I'll get L.A. Noire on the cheap, instead.

Well this game is exactly what I wanted it to be. Will be back to talk about it when I finish it.

People assumed it would be like GTA, but L.A Noire keeps a close leash on you. You're never really allowed to do anything it doesn't want you to do.
That's the problem. If people didn't go in seeing "Rockstar" on the cover, they wouldn't be so disappointed that it's not a sandbox game. But they go in thinking it's "1940s GTA, except you're a cop".
