    3DS Idea Thread

I think I, as with many people, can safely say that the 3DS is the coolest thing seen at E3 this year. However, gamewise we haven't really seen anything mindblowing; just your standard nintendo games. Nothing that really seems to shout ' Innovation' upon seeing it.

Any thoughts on possible ways the 3DS could be used or ideas for games that would utilized the 3DS' functions?

Not an original game, but I had a thought on how absolutely terrifying it would be if Prof. Layton used the 3d effect to do trash compacter puzzles. I hated them enough in 2 dimensions, so I think adding the 3rd one would cause my brain to ooze out.

The list of developers working on 3DS titles impressed me thoroughly

The only thing I am concerned about is the pricing. Of course, it is way too early for anything but wild speculation. But, there are a lot of expensive looking toys on the 3DS. At the same time, Nintendo hasn't ever really released anything with a premium price tag before. I don't really know what to think

Dragon Quest in 3d! Blue slime in 3d!

If looking at the screen is like looking into a tunnel, then any first person dungeon crawling rpg would be awesome.

I'm hoping personally that with the cameras and analog stick they're gonna start introducing fps games, which would be especially cool considering it'd be 3d.

I've never really thought much about augmented reality stuff before, but augmented reality plus 3D could probably create something amazing looking.

A 3DS version of echochrome would be pretty neat.

    Also, skydiving.

I'd love to see what Cing would have come up with if they survived last fiscal year.

SMT: Persona 6- Why risk sky-high dev costs for PS360 when you've got a handheld that's just as strong as the PS2, with added visuals due to 3D?

Viewtiful Joe 3-DS- Capcom contracts Atsushi Inaba to conclude the series in an epic installment that uses 3D for new platforming puzzles.

For real. Cing was an amazing developer, and Hotel Dusk was fantastic. It sucks that we're not going to get anything else from them. If they were able to do games that were that cool and stylish with the regular DS hardware, just imagine what they could've done with the 3DS!

I'm hoping that Square was holding off on Final Fantasy V and VI remakes with this system in mind.

Until I see a real demo unit in person, I won't be entirely convinced that the graphical power of the 3DS is on par with anything. Right now I think it's one step down from the Wii, but not exactly there.

YES. A skydiving game where debris and shit flies out at you in #D would be great. Either that or some kind of sweet flight sim.

He said: "We want to make sure we get it right as opposed to being there first and - with portables - there's still a lot of tweaking that needs to happen from a research and development perspective.

"We've looked at a lot of the current technologies available and all of them have an issue of perception where you have to hold the console in exactly the right place to get the 3D effect and it's a bit of a challenge to maintain that 3D experience."

3DS was detailed just hours before a Sony press conference that failed to offer any major detail, software aside, on what might lay ahead for the PSP, Sony's handheld games device. It is widely thought the firm is working on a PSP2, but it has yet to officially confirm the device's development.
