HAWPcast: Why Did You Show Me That

Not so much Doctor Who, but more TV, a dash of cinema, some gameage, and a lot of listener questions. Hit this and start discussimatin'.

I really liked the bit about the Sims, having played a bit of the first one and never really understanding the obsession some of my friends developed with it. I'd never imagined there was that kind of depth, even after the one weird incident where the Sim of my one alcoholic/druggie acquaintance woke up one morning on my lawn after knocking on my door for a few hours in the dead of night, probably looking for simoleons.

Ed, Edd, and Eddy was good, plays are good except the bad ones, and How I Met Your Mother is good. Also, you didn't ask my question and I am upset greatly.

Yep, How I Met Your Mother is good. It was good enough to "not-torrent" the whole lot.

I enjoyed that HAWPcast more than most, you both just seemed a whole lot more energetic than previous HAWPcasts.

ASH MUST ATTEND PAX 2010, EVEN MORE SO IF PAPA BURCH IS ATTENDING

How I Met Your Mother is fantastic. Tomorrow's the 100th episode. Watch it.
Still on the fence on whether I want to follow Matt Smith as the new Doctor.

There has never been a statement that was more incorrect.

Rainmaker studios, which is Mainframe Entertainment's new name, are making a ReBoot movie trilogy, with the first movie slated for sometime this year. Their website has a preview clip. http://www.rainmaker.com/?/home/work/6

How I meet your mother is pretty good. I only ever watch it if it happens to be on TV when I am eating something though.

I agree about avatar, its basically an over-hyped, futuristic re-do of the classic kids film Fern Gully.

You are incorrect. The entire series comes into perspective once you watch the movie.

It's hard finding someone that knows what they are doing with Shakespeare. David Tennant seems to know what he is doing.

The problem with that is it won't work on a stage in front of an audience.
People need to be able to hear you in a play and if you fall on the floor like Tennant did and cover your face the audience will not be able to see you or hear you properly.

There is also a good bit of camera work to dramatize what is going on, he talks to the camera and it follows him and gives him dramatic close ups. You, again, can't do that in a play.

I think the whole problem with Shakesphere's work is that they are plays. The stories are good and the writing is, mostly good if dated, but the audiences have moved beyond plays. Cameras give a lot more freedom in delivery and can add emphasis that you just can't get in plays.

That clip was bloody brilliant by the way.

The sims stuff reminded me of this time we set up two polar opposite sims (sims 3) and tried to get one to do good and one to steal candy from babies and stuff. He started getting wants to make friends so we got him a fertility treatment and made him impregnate all of his woman neighbors. Now, this guy's skin was blue, so pretty soon we had loads of sets of blue twin babies running around.

    Great game.

Reboot was great. I was probably too young to really understand it exactly, but I apparently liked it enough to have a Reboot Backpack when I was in 7 or so. I'll have to re-watch it sometime.

Isn't someone making a Reboot movie? [edit: I probably should have read the whole thread]

Also, I haven't finished listening to the podcast, so I have no idea what is said about How I Met Your Mother, but it's currently my favorite show.

I thought Avatar was terrible as well.
