Actually, what I love is that the Doctor has this history you don't have to delve into if you don't want to. Infact, one of the enemies he has a 'history' with in the new series (from the school episode) was actually a brand new creation, right?

Yeah. The gist is that he's run into pretty much every race at some point, but it's to the point where he can't possibly (or at least, immediately) recall every particular individual. They've done that plenty in the older stuff, too, though usually just as set-up for an arc; I'm not sure if they're going to bring those bat-things back.

Anyone see the new Dr Who special? Im not really a fan of the show but why the hell did the writers insist on sucking President Obama's ding-aling? On three or four occasions they announced that he was going to take the ENTIRE WORLD out of the recession in one speech. Oh and the plot was kinda jank, but the 'return of the time lords' bit at the end was cool.

It was again for me about 50 minutes of kinda amusing crap followed by 5 minutes of AWESOME. John Simms must've loved seeing that as a finished product.
