I noticed that watching Prometheus. Not sure why he picked that one specifically but it is very cool, shame it never ended up in Dune.

I feel the same, I have a few digital copies of art books but I still end up getting the physical book in the end just because it feels different.

I like the Dune we got but I would have loved to see Salvador Dali, Orson Welles, Moebius and Giger's Dune.

I didn't know until a few months ago that Moebius did concept art for the original Alien. Of course I didn't know who Moebius was until a few years ago.

What's Moebius done? I vaguely remember seeing some concept art he did for Dune but other than that I don't really know much about him.

He was a comic books artist from France. I first heard about him because he did a story in that Halo graphic novel, but he's apparently pretty huge in the comic book world.

Confession Time: I just don't like Dune.

I've tried so many times, but I find it to be a really dull movie.

I think I'd rather read the book than watch the film again. I saw it once when I was a teenager and yeah, I got bored with it. Not sure if that means anything though, because I got bored with everything back then.

    Dune was great.

The version from Dali and crew was proposed to be a 10 hour film. I would've watched it all.

I don't think what we got was as imaginative as it could have been (like we already said) but I really enjoyed it, some amazing performances from Kyle Maclachlan, Francesca Annis and Patrick Stewart (to name a few) and it was well directed. It's the only Dune adaptation I can really stand to watch, actually.

But they're all pretty pedestrian. I don't mind a bit of thespian acting, but damn, they're so rigid and they stand around in empty looking sets - halls, corridors, sand and caves. You're locked on to these people during every minute, but if you look away from them, there's nothing going on.

I actually quite like that though, I don't quite know why but it works for me.

That said, I do think it's a shame they didn't use more of the shots for visual exposition - some detail to planet Harkonnen or Caladen would have been nice, but I do think it's impressive for what it is. Compressing quite a complicated 400 page book into a 2 hour film.

I've never seen a Dune adaptation nor have I read the books.

Them sand worms were a trip in Beetlejuice though.

I've only ever watched the original film. I need to check out the others, though I hear they pale in comparison.

  16. #14676
I've seen bits of a few, I think including one done for the Sci-Fi channel. I didn't really like them very much.

They were just straight adaptations for the most part, didn't really try to be too imaginative nor really add anything.

I hated the "minecraft shield" as a kid but I appreciate it now for what it is.

I'm down. I read that they had a script they both loved earlier this year. I'm looking forward to this actually happening.
