You're gonna have to tell us what you think about that when you finish it. I read up on it just now and it sounds amazing.

Well it feels really brief and it's weird, didn't see it turning the way it did. But um yeah what you're expecting isn't what is happening.

I love '70s-ness (and '80s-ness) in movies. There was just a vibe that movies had back then that can't be replicated.

Also, flicks like Dog Day Afternoon, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three and Mean Streets make me want to live in '70s New York.

I read the plot summary on Wikipedia.

NEVER MIND. I totally misunderstood what you meant there lol.

I figured you did, the twist happens really early so if you want to try not to spoil yourself on Wiki it just doesn't give a fuck.

    Ok it's over now.
I thought this was a film about a mother trying to find her kidnapped child and we'd find out if the Tall Man was a real person/paranormal ect. I was expecting a twist but early on (and you don't see it) a twist hits and the good guys/bad guys aren't who you think they are. It should have been called the Average Height Men.

THEN you find out that the real bad guys are kidnapping for what they deem to be morally right reasons, but it's all very corrupt and morally questionable. What they're doing is wrong but I see it being debated.

Though it's zany and needs work, because it's all rather ludicrious its bare bones idea is actually a good concept and a different take. Just it came out of nowhere and seemed a bit plotholey/rushed. If it was executed a little bit better I would have enjoyed it more. But still they got me with the change over. Reminds me of some sort of half way point Mullholland Drive shizzle.

Oh and it has absolutely nothing to do with slenderman. There is nothing slenderman about this in the slightest.

    Biel was good in it.

Yeah, I thought they were in the right to do what they did, based on what I read. The film gives a more complete picture though, obviously.

    Aside from that, the only thing I know is the name reminds me of this guy;

The Phantasm movies are brilliant. They were filmed over like, a twenty or thirty year period, and they kept the original cast throughout the series. So the young kid from the first film was a grown man by the end and so on. My favorite was the one where they showed the Tall Man's origin story (part 3, I think). Seeing him as a nice, regular human being is almost enough to do your head in.

Neeson is great, and Taken was a fine flick, but I wasn't as enthralled with it as everybody else seemingly was.

It was overall pretty generic to me, nothing really stood out.

I haven't seen it either. Seems rather dull to have such a literal follow-up though, with the whole kidnapped-family-member thing being done again. That's almost as bad as the Speed sequels. "I was in a once in a lifetime situation where I was held hostage on a bus...and then later on the same thing happened on a boat!" For all I know, the third one took place on the Space Shuttle. Lol Hollywood.

well the plot was pretty simple.
Ex cop's daughter gets kidnapped, daddy kills everyone & gets her back.. XD
But the intensity of the actor's & specially Neeson was outstanding \m/

You guys should watch Taken 1 atleast!

Oh I don't doubt that. Everyone I've heard from said it was a pretty good film. I was interested in the new trailer until someone got kidnapped, then I was like, "oh, they're doing this again..."

I guess they kind of have to though. You know, with the name of the series being Taken and all. :P

Taken was a cash-in on Bourne and 24. Even Neeson admitted that when they were making it, he thought it was going to straight-to-rental. That said, even though it's fluff...it's entertaining fluff.

A real beer and pizza movie.

Does it need a sequel? Not really, but I'll watch it when its on TV.
