Not to interrupt the innuendo, which I'm a bit sore that I'm not a part of, episode two of the Dtoid Pokemon Adventure is up. Also, puns.

Star Ocean: The Second Evolution is SO BAD.

The battles are all too easy, to the point where all I have to do it press X a couple times and I win. I don't even have to move.
I really wanted to play it for the story, but I can't take it any more. It's one of the worst RPGs I've ever played.

Just had to say that somewhere.

I vowed never to play another Star Ocean game after The Second Story effed me over so badly.

Holy shit, I just played the Arkham Asylum demo. I'm not even much of a Batman fan, but this game looks awesome.

Arkham Asylum played like a much more polished Watchmen. Which I'm not complaining entirely because I liked the Watchmen DLC.

This makes me very interested in Arkham Asylum. Not that I wasn't before.
Also, I found a really awesome arcade this weekend while visiting my father in New Hampshire.

They had an original Japanese Pac-Man machine.

Yeah, that battle system is rough. It's just not a very fun game to play. I've got it sitting around and I'll probably never finish it.

The battle system in Star Ocean 4, however, is pretty awesome. Really liked that game despite the meh story and embarrassingly bad characters.

3 and 4 both look really good, which is why I was trying to play 2 (I've already played through 1 on the SNES).

Can I start 3 and enjoy the story without having finished 2?

Yeah...no matter what you do, you won't enjoy the story in 3. It's impossible. Star Ocean 3 contains perhaps the stupidest plot twist in the history of videogaming. It's so bad as to ruin the canon of the entire series unless you choose to pretend that it never happened.

But, yeah, there's really no direct connection between the stories, and you won't feel lost starting #3.

Haha, I've heard that before, but I'm curious as to what the twist is. I'm sure I'll be able to pick it up for very cheap, so I'll probably start with 3 soon and just forget about 2.

Yeah, don't get me wrong: the game itself is rather enjoyable, though compared to 4 the battle system is a little slow. Still, there's a ton to do, and it's overall a pretty strong game despite some strange parts and weird difficulty.

But, yeah, if you pick it up and finish it, please remember to tell me when you get to the plot twist. And don't spoil it for yourself, either. I promise you that it will be a horrifyingly memorable moment.

I absolutely love that kind of stuff. I'll probably hate it and enjoy the hell out of it at the same time.

I'll try to play it soon, and I'll definitely post here when I do.

I loved the first Star Ocean game, even if it was insanely easy. I have the second one waiting for me on the PSP, still have to get to it.

Oh fuck. Yeah, I had a friend play that game over at my house and when it happened I was fucking dumbstruck.

You know, I think we need to give a name to the plot twist, just so that we never have to mention it by name.

I propose we call it "The Big Chinga." Which, basically, means "The Big Fuckover."

    I think it's a perfectly fitting name.

Um, that wasn't sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell. I live for stupid, jumping-the-shark shit like this.
