The challenge would be in how fucking horrible it must taste. You're right about the creative difference though I guess.

I think it's dumb. But what do I know? I'm just a doctor.
Are you a real doctor? Cause I've got this lump...

Is it in your throat? Would you like it to be?

Replace Mountain Dew with motor oil, and Doritos with shards of glass, and sir, you've got yourself a badge-worthy challenge.

Wouldn't it be called the Darwin Award Badge in that case?

Has a Secret Santa participation badge been discussed yet?

  11. #4751
Not that I'm aware of, discuss away.

Okay, let's discuss then. Should it be as simple as having successfully completed your gifting? Should it be more than that, like multiple years? (I don't think it should, I just can't think of any other things to put for "not simple".) Should a badge even exist, or should the act of giving and receiving be reward enough?

If it becomes a badge it totally needs Seacrest's face on it.

Should receiver satisfaction and effort be a factor?

Believably, googling Seacrest Santa mostly comes up with this thread. But yeah, that with a santa hat shooped on.

Going into all of that might be hard to quantify, y'know? I mean, yeah, somebody just mailing a bunch of tootsie rolls, or nothing at all, is pretty shitty, but beyond obvious stuff I dunno if we want to get into "How happy is your giftee, and did you try hard enough?" That's not what Seacrest Santa is all about, it's about how much Ryan Seacrest loves the children of the world.

    Maybe you're right, sounds a bit scrooge-ish when I re-read it.

Some people are easily pleased as well, so what they think is awesome othersmight think is lame.

I know this has been suggested for something before that never happened, but totally have two versions according to user satisfaction. I don't think it's a good idea but I've never not shared my ideas before so I won't relent now.

I'm inclined to say it should, but as ZP said, it doesn't jive with the spirit of it being a secret santa gift.

Last time I participated, I received a book I already owned a copy of. I'd say my gifter still deserved the badge, 'cause he didn't know I already owned the book (in hindsight, I probably should've mentioned beforehand that I did, lulz). It was the thought that I appreciated, and I don't need to worry about losing it if I lend a copy for someone to borrow.

I think a badge for just fulfilling your end of the Secret Santa is good enough. I don't think we should include any other factors.

That's my view on the badge as I think it's a pretty cool idea.
