Let me lay down a few ground rules for this. Thank you sig for getting this thread started.

1. It has to be based off something I can easily confirm. Attending a Narp or the like is pretty difficult unless there is picture evidence and even that...how do I know you are who you say you are?

2. Let's keep em pretty limited and pretty difficult to get. One, yea clutter. I don't want people with 50 badges. Also, making them uncommon and difficult makes them that much more special.

Win a contest is good because I can just check the post made about it. Comments..are those tracked accurately? If they are I guess thats easy, but lets make it some kind of huge number and only one. No stages.

We don't need any in regards to #of posts. You have those in your ranks already and lets not encourage people to spam.

Basically, uniqueness, fairness and something easily confirmable.

I think the fewer badges the better. We get too many of these, it is going to look ridiculous.

I actually don't like the comment ones that much. I think most of the badges should actually be some-what hard to get.

Agreed. A few new badges might not be a bad idea but completely flooding the forums with them will just it annoying.

The only one I agree with on that list is Attend a NARP. The rest are kind of pointless, specifically the reach level 5 one. We already have a badge for that.

What about one for getting a picture with Mr. Destructoid? If you can produce a picture with you and him in it and verify that you are the person in the picture (i.e. other pictures of you or someone else vouching for you) and a good story about obtaining the picture, then a badge is given. Whadda ya think?

I would officially petition a "yang" opposite to the tits badge the women of Destructoid get. Like a cock badge or rooster badge for the males of Dtoid who participate regularly and prove themselves macho enough...lol.

Also while I'm at it a beard badge seems like a necessity.

Getting a picture with Mr. Toid would be hard especially for people in Canada...*wink wink* still have to get my damn passport.

Yup. They are pointless. It's supposed to be. It's like an xbox achievement in that it's going to sit there and look pretty and ultimately do nothing. Which is why I'm trying to make these as limited as possible, because fuck if I'm gonna be handing out badges all freaking day.

That..I don't know if that is possible. The data you see in the profile is exactly the same source as whats next to your posts. I don't know if I could make something show up in one and not the other. Don't worry, I'm trying not to get nutty with them. Look at Topher, I think he's probably got the most badges of anyone currently.
