Recently re-read The God Delusion and I'm currently reading God is not Great.

I'm probably in the minority of people who believe the works of Dawkins, Dennett, Harris, Hitchens and many other atheists should be taught in schools. Sadly, for many places an acceptance of the theory of evolution is still a problem.

Finished Speaker for the Dead. Can't decide if I like it more than Ender's Game or not. I think I'm leaning toward Speaker. Ender's much more badass.

Being the greatest military commander of all time is pretty badass for a thirteen year old but I get what you mean. Something about adult Ender is great.

I read an Alvin Maker short in an anthology and really enjoyed it. I have the first volume in my goodreads queue.

I finished The Cloud Atalas about a week ago or so. It was pretty neat, really nothing revolutionary about it though. Except for one I enjoyed all the stories that were in there, and it was cool that they had some nods to the other characters in each story but really there is nothing in there that ties it all together or anything. I think listening to it on an Audiobook was good choice. Not only was it nice to have a different narrator for each story, I think it really helped me remember what was going on and added another layer to it.

Currently reading "The Dead Do Not Improve". It came across as a sort of light hearted mystery but so far I"m finding it really boring. The main character seems like an asshole so it's hard for me to relate to him let alone want him to succeed. I'm still only 50 pages in so maybe it will get better down the long run though.

I read all through high school and amassed a pretty sizable book collection.

After high school I only managed to finish three books: the last two Harry Potter books and a porn novel.

Don't know what happened. I just have a hard time finding the time and patience to just chill out and read.

Need to unplug the internet and console and finish Lanark or The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles or any other of the dozen or so books I've started and never finished over the past few years.

Holidays sort of interrupted my re-reading of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, but got back to it today. Still good. Think people here would like it a lot 'cause ya'll a bunch of nerds.

I've been reading the Great Book of Amber by Roger Zelazny (all Amber books 1 - 10 collected together). It's...different. It took a while to grow on me, but I like some of the concepts.

I felt clever when I realised that Rebma = Amber backwards, as well.

Read The Cider House Rules by John Irving. That book tells a great story using tons of vivid Dickensian characters and some off-the-wall plot devices. Irving's technique with descriptive detail is wonderful.

Other solid 'general recommendations' that I've been thinking about recently are Stephen King's It and Insomnia. Both are fantastic and addictive, though pretty large also. I'd also have to recommend that Dan Simmons book I read earlier this year called Carrion Comfort.

A little bit of everything. I used to be super big into fantasy when I was younger but these days find myself mostly bored with it. That's kind of the only exception. I still dig a lot of sci-fi.

Okay guys help me out, I'm looking for a big ass book that had a dark vinyl hardcover and in goldish lettering had the singular title of "MYTHOLOGY" on it's spine and front.


I saw it once at a Ross when I was there with my girl, it was bomb as fuck but a little too pricey at the time. ANYONE have any idea where I could find this book again? I tried google and it did not come up. I normally have a hard time finishing a book because I'm stupid when it comes to that but I can get into a book's guts if it's about Greek or Norse mythology. Figured if I was going to start a collection of books I'd start with Mythology and Auto-Biographies of NBA players I find interesting and once I fucking got patient enough to read again I'd expand to richer content.
