Ah, the three lightsabers filling in for the final boss...You could tell they ran out of time by that point. I can almost imagine some LucasArts exec standing over a programmer, tapping at his watch, during the final day.
"C'mon, wrap it up. We've got to market this bitch."
Malachor V was ripped to shreds, to the point where not even the Restoration stuff could've saved it (the Restored Cut mod is not the same as the cancelled Restoration Project). If the content ain't there, then you do the best with what you're given.
I wouldn't be suprised if it was most likely because they were right on the deadline and the orginal endgame would've been going over schedule. That's why you don't see your friends, fight an awesome boss, and wonder what the fuck the villain is talking about because they've re-written the backstory.
Hey...that sounds awfully familiar:

You seem to be completely overlooking the quality of characters, story and lore that was in KOTOR II, despite it's unfinished state. Different ideas of perfection or near perfection maybe but so hard to please some people.
I personally found it to be, even with some lapses, unfinishes ect, a brillinat sequel and characters like Kreia were just superb. KOTOR is my favourite game ever and KOTOR II is my second.
Except for Atton Rand.
That guy was an unlikable douchebag, even when I turned him into a Jedi.
Kreia was an excellent villain, well a character. The villain line is kinda blurry, certainly she did wrong, was the end boss ect but her character was well written and her voice actor Sara Kestelman was key to that.
Rand was sort of like Burt Ward's Robin, only instead of listening to your wisdom to calm down, he'd stick his fingers in ears and make the "LA LA!" sound.
Not exactly Obsidian's finest hour, I'll admit.
As for Vega, on my second playthough, the guy's still a-okay in my books. I prefer him than Javik and EDI, that's for sure. Joker has metal fever. I think it's only fitting I pick the Destroy ending, again.
Yeah, I'm playing through the start of their relationship, and while I appreciate the comic relief, I find the storyline just too fucked up to take seriously. That comes out of nowhere, too. I know Joker is a mouthy prick because he's disabled, but he could clearly get some real pussy if he put the effort in.
I'm thinking back to Mass Effect one and I still don't know how they went from that to "Hey, Shepard...May I have your premission to fuck a robot?"
What? In the first Mass Effect I was resolving Presidium protest zoning laws with jellyfish. I agree it is a little weird Joker wants your good graces, but Mass Effect has always been a bit odd.
Yeah, but jellyfish or not, it was about religious matters and red tape. You could've had the same scenario with two humans, and it would still be the same dilemma. Seeing the jellyfish just alleviates the situation.
With Joker, he wants to fuck a robot in the middle of Earth's final days, no way around it. It was awkward. Sure, he likes EDI's mind and now she's got a sexy robo body, and since nobody else has ever been written for in for him, that was his only option. As for EDI, she went from smart personality to "If I want to be more human, I have to fuck Jeff."
In the end, I let them do it as long as they didn't bug me about it anymore. Plus, it was the last game, so I thought, "Yeah, whatever." Replaying the game, and it's still the weakest sub-plot. I'm supposed to care for EDI's worries of "death", and I do, which is sad when I choose Destroy, but I didn't need the metal fever thing to ram it home.
I can't believe we are talking about this.
You (as Shepard) are one to talk about fucking in inappropriate situations, that is all Shepard does with his downtime. Hell before you go to earth you can find Garrus and Tali doing there thing in the cannon calibration room. I feel like if anything, robo-sex probably has a precedent in a such a culturally diverse and technologically advanced civilization.
I do agree it is pretty unremarkable though, and they really play it up for laughs more than is necessary. EDI does have her other non Joker moments though, you have some morality discussions and talks about her humanity. And you also learn about her origins, which help confirm her impulsive streak.
Seriously, that's what happens. If you boil it down to the basics, EDI wants to fuck Joker to get the gist of this whole humanity gig. She goes from asking you complex questions about fate and and willpower to "How you date someone and get it on? Should I drug him?" between only two conversations.
I know they've got to get the plot going, but damn, that just comes out of the blue for me. It's like Lucy Liu-Bot all over again.
Yeah, but Garrus and Tali don't ask for your blessing. They get it on like normal people, as it should be.

It may have turned weird, but I for one am happy to be reading about Mass Effect in here again.
Fuck you people and your discussions of games I haven't played yet.

Do they even mention physical sex in the Joker/EDI storyline? I can see how that would be the most obvious thing to say about it, but I got the impression that they were more like each other's muses or something.
Clearly there was a romantic angle, but it wasn't as simple as "LOL LET'S FUCK". You know how sailors refer to their ships in feminine terms? Or how some rednecks fall in love with their cars? I'm doing a shitty job of explaining my take on it but yeah, I saw it kind of like that.
I mean, that guy really loved his ship. And the best part is, theirs was the best written and most authentic relationship in the entire trilogy.

I was talking about Alpha Protocol and New Vegas. BECCY.
