You might need to upgrade your mobo for a new cpu, depending on which socket you have. If you have an older socket, you might also need to upgrade your ram at that point; ddr3 is the standard now...

That's what I was thinking. The i5 750 overclocks beautifully on air, and with a good motherboard he should be able to get it much higher than a i5 760 anyway.

That's strange. I take it your monitor is 1680x1050? Try setting it to that then tweak it through your monitors settings.
